According to research studies and trusted sources, global Climate Change is playing a major role in the rise of Mosquito Populations around the world. Researchers at the University of Bath, in collaboration with the University of York and China Agricultural University, have explained how climate change has sparked an increase in the population of mosquitoes in different parts of the world and even in those areas where mosquito-borne diseases had been previously eradicated.
As temperatures rise, regions that were previously too cold for mosquitoes are getting warmer. With increasing temperatures, above-average rainfall, and the more severe weather associated with global warming, there are more habitats for mosquitoes to thrive. Mosquitoes have proven to have no problem adapting to the conditions associated with climate change.

As mosquito populations continue to rise, so will their impact on individual and community health. In larger cities, disease spreads more quickly. The general population will be more susceptible to these health implications as controlling an outbreak of disease can be more difficult. Mosquitoes are vectors or carriers for some of the deadliest illnesses known to humans. They transmit disease through their bite and are considered public enemy number one due to the wide range of diseases they carry and the deaths they cause. Of the one million deaths caused annually by vector-borne diseases, 780,000 of those are caused by mosquitoes.
There are more than 3,000 species of mosquitos in the world, among which Anopheles, Culex, and Aedes are the most dangerous ones. Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India are some of the countries that have the highest number of mosquito species. Africa and the Middle East regions are among the newer countries to experience a rise in Mosquito Population due to Climate Change.
As temperatures rise due to higher CO2 levels, regions that have been too cold for mosquitoes are getting warmer. Iceland, previously considered a Mosquito-free country, is now experiencing the presence of mosquitoes. We can hardly find a mosquito-free country in the world because global warming and climate change are constantly improving the habitat for the Mosquito population.
